Stage 1 - Consultation
Our initial goal will be to identify the area/s within your home that are causing you and your family the greatest stress. We then aim to discover the reasons why the clutter accumulated; what does the clutter symbolize?
Stage 2 - Planning
The focus of this stage centers on what it is you are hoping to achieve from the de-cluttering process; this is an important aspect as it will enable you to remain motivated throughout.
E.g. clearing out the spare room, in order to convert it into a home office.
The objective of these 2 stages is to recognize the key motivating factors that will enable you to physically start & then maintain the de-cluttering process.
Stage 3 - Complete clutter?
Or is it? Do you know what it is, or have you accumulated so much for so long that you've forgotten? Does some of it belong to other people? Are there items you would like to keep?
Stage 4 - Tools & resources
Will you need to hire a skip? Do you know where your local recycling centre is? Can you sell some items? Is there a particular charity you can donate useable items to? Can you pass things onto friends?
Together we are now ready to create a plan of action & a timeframe in which to complete the necessary work.
Stage 5 - Clearing the clutter
Only now do we physically sort the clutter into catergories; by this stage the majority of people find the process of de-cluttering less daunting than they had anticipated. You will have complete control over what you choose to dispose of & how.
Stage 6 - Organizing what's left
The majority of your clutter will now be catergorised & some maybe ready to be removed; however, you have probably chosen to retain some possessions. At stage 1, we discovered the reasons why the clutter had originally accumulated; stage 6 focuses on organizing, displaying & managing these remaining items in order to prevent clutter from accumulating in the future. There are numerous simple, pratical methods & storage soloutions available which can enable us to create a plan that is the most appropriate for your & your families needs.
Stage 7 - Follow-up
In the weeks following the conclusion of our session(s), we keep in contact with you by telephone or email to discuss how you are progressing. A two hour follow up session is available if required, enabling you to remain motivated or to physically help with the disposal & re-organization.
